About Our Trips

Unlike our fishin' forefathers, we have the luxury
of driving our cars to and from our destination in a
matter of hours rather than days.  

Although our destination is a few hours from Denver,
the trip to and from the ranch takes you through the most
beautiful parts of the Rocky Mountains. As part of our
trip packages, we offer free transportation to and from
the metro Denver area if needed.

Many of our guests prefer to plan on an overnight stay
in either Glenwood Springs or Carbondale, Colorado. 
With the driving time and 8 hours of fishing, we want to
make sure you can plan for these trips so, please plan
accordingly or contact us for suggestions on driving
directions, accommodations and our favorite places to
eat in the area.

When you are ready for that great fishing experience,
this is what you want to know...

u  If you do not own your own gear, we will
    provide what you will need (rods, reels, flies,
    waders, boots, etc.) at no additional charge.

u  We recommend a 9ft 5wt rod, reel, floating fly line.

u  In addition, you may wish to bring a camera,
    sunscreen, sunglasses (preferably polarized) and a
    rain coat.

u  A Colorado fishing license IS NOT required as we
    are fishing on private property.

The Bar ZX Ranch (our  specialty)
We have been fishing the Bar ZX for over 16 years.
There are few flyfishing opportunities in the world that
will compare to the solitude and fishing experience you
will enjoy at the remote Bar ZX Ranch.  The ranch has
been featured in numerous flyfishing magazines and on
both ESPN and the Outdoor Life Network's fly fishing
shows.  

Guided trips include:

     u  A full 8 hour day of fly fishing 
      u  Professional instruction
      u  A tasty and hearty lunch and beverages to
               assure you have the energy to fight those
               afternoon lunkers
      u  All the flies, leaders, tippet and other little
               accessories you will need at no extra charge.

       If you are considering another guide service,
       ask them if they charge for these. It's not right
       for you to pay for what we all consider a price
       of enjoying a flyfishing trip.

      u  Catch-and-Release fishing—We appreciate
            our trout population and want to see it grow
            for the following generations of anglers
      u  Transportation to and from the Denver Metro
            area to our fishing destination (Timing,
            conditions permitting)
      u  We are happy to arrange overnight   
            accommodations for those trips more than
            two hours from Denver.

      u  Bar ZX 2009 Rates
           Rod Fee $125, plus Guide Fee listed below:
           1 Angler    $ 275
           2 Anglers   $ 380 ($ 190 per person)
           3 Anglers   $ 510 ($ 170 per person)

      u  "Father-Son" or "Dad-n-Daughter" Specials
           Available for Dad with kid(s) up to age 17
           $350 plus Rod Fees

      u  Groups
           We have served customers with groups from
           6 to 12 anglers and can make arrangements for
           your group as well.

           Each year we arrange multiple day fishing trips
           at the ranch.

A 50% deposit is required at the time you book your trip. We accept personal checks, Visa, MasterCard, Discover or American Express to hold dates. Deposits are non-refundable unless notice of cancellation is received no less than fifteen (15) days prior to your fishing dates. There will be no refunds on cancellations less than thirty (30) days and cancellation made less than seven (7) days prior to your trip will require full payment.
